Mission :: Belize 2012

The 2012 Mission team to Belize has been preparing for their trip with monthly team meetings to learn about the culture and history of Belize, sign language along with applying for passports. If you recall, Eli took his first trip to Belize in 2009 and will return this year with another group from our church.
As this team prepares and their excitement builds, I've realized how important it is to plant seeds of opportunities in the youth of our church. Some may never do another mission trip after this, others probably will. Our small country church provides an awesome opportunity for the youth to participate in a mission trip at the Cayo Deaf Institute in Belize. We also have leaders with a passion for missions and a gift of developing the mission program, and organizing the preparation phase and the work projects.

You may have noticed something. All of the women/gals on this trip have a name that start with "S"! Yes...Siera, Samantha, Shannon, Summer, Sonya, Susan and Sarah!!! How cool is that?

The team did a great job serving and cleaning up yesterday. I'm so proud of them and hearing them start to talk about their trip and their excitement and what they hope they get to do on their mission trip warms my heart.

I've never been to Belize. But I get to experience it through the eyes of the youth who take these trips and it is an honor to offer encouragement and support to the team.

Oh and they raised >$800 profit yesterday for their team expenses. Great job everyone! And thanks to all the parents who helped clean up!
