Church. 1 hour. Sunday.
Have we missed it? Has the American Church missed it?
The men in our church just finished reading, The Hole in the Gospel, by Richard Stearns. Pastor Dean recommended this book to them. Before he left for the winter, he held the book up to the congregation and he said, "If all we do is sit in church, we've missed the point."
Amen Brother!
There was a time when I dreaded going to church. And this was not the distant past. I was expecting to 'get something out of church'. And I was the first one who said that we weren't going if someone asked, "Are we going to church today?"
What changed?
I realized that I was made to worship. Church wasn't about me getting something out of it. It is a time for me to honor God, serve others and worship. It is an hour of discipline for me. I'm a student and God has a message for me.
Have we missed it? By sitting in church on Sunday? No!
Our men jumped to action, made plans for two projects and are being God's hands and feet, walking the walk. I'm so proud of them for showing us what God's love looks like.
