A picture is worth a thousand words

This picture was taken in Estes Park, Colorado in the fall of 1999.  We were visiting for my friend Susan's wedding and took the day to do some things in Estes Park.  When we went into this store, Janel asked, "What are we doing here?"  And I replied, "We are going to get a family picture taken."  To this Janel replied, "No we're not."

Unfortunately there were so many themes to pick from that we couldn't decide. So the photographer made a suggestion.  And I think she got it perfect.  And she told us not to smile.

NO PROBLEM! Since everyone was mad anyway.

We still laugh at Eli, who looks like he saw a bear.
We laugh at Janel, in her typical teen drama phase scowling at the camera.
While Tim & I try hard to hold back a chuckle.

We love this family picture because it is as strange as we are! And it marks a time in our lives that we were having some fun in spite of ourselves.
